Twist the base of the handle. The two doors on top swing open on their own, the old blade lifts straight out, and the new one drops in flat. Twist it back and it is closed.

Nothing unscrews, nothing comes off in your hand, and there are no posts to line the blade up on. You never have to pinch the edge.

Honestly, not much about the shave itself. Same single edge, same standard blades, same result. Anyone telling you their metal razor shaves in a way another metal razor cannot is selling you geometry.

The difference is the head. Most safety razors come apart in three pieces to take a blade. This one opens on itself: twist the base, the top swings open, drop the blade in, twist it shut.

That sounds like a small thing until you have done it forty times in a year with wet hands.

Scalp hair is usually denser and the skin sits tighter over bone, which is exactly the situation where a blade that moves gets you. This one does not move.

Go slower on the first pass around the crown until you know the shape of your own head. Everybody misses that spot the first time.

It depends on how coarse your hair is, how often you shave, and how much you notice. There is no counter and no indicator strip that turns white to tell you when to spend money again.

What you can control is how much blade is out. Most of the edge stays inside the head here, so a bad angle gives you a scrape instead of a cut. The classic beginner injury on a safety razor comes from tilting it too far and dragging the corner. There is a lot less corner to drag.

Go slowly on the neck and around the Adam's apple for the first week. After that you will stop thinking about it.
